Hey there, how’s it going? If you are a qualified professional and are considering moving to Germany, it is important to know how the healthcare and health insurance system works there.

The healthcare system in Germany is universal, which means that all residents in the country must have health insurance. This system is funded by a combination of mandatory health insurance contributions, private health insurance, and taxes. This ensures high-quality medical care for everyone, including qualified professionals and their families.

In practice, patients have access to various medical services, such as consultations, hospitalizations, and prescribed medications. This system is known for being of high quality and well efficient. However, it is important to remember that some medical treatments may not be covered, and you will have to pay for them out of your own pocket.

There are two types of health insurance in Germany: mandatory insurance (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung or GKV) and private insurance (Private Krankenversicherung or PKV). Most people who live in Germany are covered by mandatory insurance, which is mandatory for those earning less than a certain income threshold (currently around €64,350 per year).
